Daily Devotion: Do you live to work?

Thoughtful Starter:
How important is your work for you?

Today’s Scripture Reading: Psalm 127:2
“It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to His loved ones.”

daily devotion

I hope today’s verse is a reminder for all of us who tirelessly work every single day. Believing that the more we work, the more that we get paid, and the happier we become.

Our job, our strength to work, our body for work, and our salary from it- let’s remember where all of these come from. It’s all from Him.

He gives to us by grace.  And He takes them all when they take over His place.

He is not against human nature. Working hard honors Him. But doing it too much that we neglect to rest and our family is a sign of not trusting in His power to provide for our needs.

He created us and He knows us better than we know ourselves.

Make God your priority for He knows your necessity.

We work while trusting God, and we also rest while trusting Him.

Today’s Reflection Activity:
Take some time today to rest or have a meal with family and friends.
Yes, work is important. But you are not that important to your work. Know the difference.

Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for your unending grace and unconditional love in us. May we work in your vineyard throughout our lives for we know that you provide everything that we need. Amen.
