What’s keeping you awake at night?
Today’s Scripture Reading: Psalm 3:3
“But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.”
Did you ever feel betrayed? Especially by your loved ones or close friends?
We all have varying reactions towards betrayal, but our verse today gives us an example of a peaceful way of facing it.
To give you a background, today’s verse was written by King David. He wrote this when he was escaping from traitors that were being led by his son, Absalom. Filled with pain and anguish, he cried unto the Lord. He did not question Him. Instead, he surrendered. Not to his son, not to his people. But to the Lord. And there, in his surrender, he found peace. He found protection, for in the following verse, he wrote “I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me”.
Just like David, instead of questioning God when faced with betrayal or painful situations, we surrender our lives to Him. We cry out to Him for protection. We let Him lead the way. If a circumstance turns against us, we don’t blame God, we seek Him all the more. And we wait for Him. He’s always there, and He always listens.
