Daily Devotion: Taste your words

Thoughtful Starter:
What is the sweetest message or word that you’ve heard recently?

Today’s Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 3:10
“If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.”
daily devotion

This is one of the key ingredients to having a peaceful and happy life according to Peter- to be mindful of our words.

Let’s remember that a few words that are spoken in anger can destroy a relationship that took years to build. A few words of comfort create a meaningful connection that leaves warmth in people’s heart forever.

Words are too easy to utter, but the its effect is a different matter.

It can be a blessing, or a curse.

My sister told me to taste your words first before you utter them. Life is already hard on some days so  let’s not make it worse by using our words to inflict pain to others.

Instead, may we leave a seed of peace through our careful speeches and loving words.

The author Robert Green wrote, “The human tongue is a beast that few can master”.

To enjoy life, can you tame yours?

Today’s Reflection Question:
What words hurt you?

Today’s Prayer:
Lord, may we use our words to build meaningful connections to other people, to ourselves, and especially, to You. Amen.
