Daily Devotion: The rock in the “rock bottom”

***September 4, 2024***

Thoughtful Starter:
When you hear the word “rock bottom”, what comes to your mind?

Today’s Scripture Reading: Isaiah 43: 18–19
“But forget all that- it is nothing compared to what I’m going to do. For I am about to do something new. See! I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

daily devotion

“Sometimes, God lets you hit rock bottom to remind you that he is the rock at the bottom”.

I heard this line recently and it hits me hard. In our lives, due to our choices and actions,

we fall into a deep well of sadness filled with darkness.

We get stuck.

When we’re there, we sit, we weep and we look up for help. We never look down on what we’re sitting on. If only we look down for a bit and see that at the bottom of the well, there’s a stone at the center.

When we feel hopeless, scared, and exhausted, let us surrender everything to God. I know it’s easier said than done, but I am also a firm believer that everything starts when we have faith in our words followed by our actions. Even a mustard seed of faith.

When things are impossible in your eyes, remember that He can make rivers in the desert. He can carve a path when you’re lost in the wilderness.

He’s making a way where there appears to be no way.

So today, trust in Him.

When you think it’s all over, He has already begun.

Today’s Reflection Question:
How do you deal when you hit rock bottom?

Today’s Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your presence in our lives. As we start this day with a seed of faith, be in us to cultivate it and grow it for your glory. Amen.
