Thoughtful Starter:
Think of a person younger than you that you admire.
Today’s Scripture Reading: 1 Timothy 4:12
“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith and your purity.”
“You’re young, you won’t understand it”
“You can’t do it, you’re too young”.
Have you been on the receiving end of these questions?
How did you respond to these?
Some people may be discouraged by these words and slowly accept it. That yes, maybe they’re too young to do something. Too young to say something. Too immature to comprehend something.
But may the words of Paul to Timothy give us encouragement that it’s not all about being young. “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young”. Our capacities and abilities don’t depend on our age. If this were the case, then it would be safe to expect that old people are masters and young people don’t know a thing about life. However, realistically, this is not the case.
The point here is our age doesn’t define our views in life, our reactions to it, and our choices toward the future.
Let us not look at our age as a basis of one’s maturity and capability.
Instead, we base on one’s willingness to learn and the passion to do more regardless of their age. We all learn and help one another as we grow in the canopy of God’s love.
Today’s Reflection Question:
What characteristic of that person do you admire?
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for always guiding us as we grow in your presence. Give us the wisdom to continue knowing you and the courage to share your Word through our words and actions today. Amen.
