Daily Devotion: When is “enough” enough?

***September 7, 2024***

Thoughtful Starter:
What makes you stress?

Today’s Scripture Reading: 1 Timothy 6:8
“So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content”

daily devotion

Take this moment to assess the causes of your stress.

Your co-worker or boss that’s giving you attitude?

Those extra pounds that you think affect your body image?

Does your order take too long to be served?

We all know that the list is endless when we list them all down.

Because at some point, we are never content.

There is a fine line between need and want.

Sometimes, we have what we need but we are driven by our wants.

Appreciating what we already have makes all the difference.

The work that helps us pay the bills, our body that is free from sickness, and the ability to eat three times a day, are examples of the essential things in our lives.

Contentment starts with appreciation.

And the rest are all icing on top, pretty but not necessary.

Wanting more is not a sin. Living for that “more” becomes one.

“Enough” is enough for me when my peace needs to pay the price.

How about you?

Thoughtful Reflection Question:
What is your answer to our title today?

Today’s Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your abundance in our lives. May our lives be a vessel of your blessing so we can share it with others. Amen.
