Daily Devotion: Who helps the helper?

Thoughtful Starter:
Who helps you when you’re down?

Today’s Scripture Reading: Romans 1:12
“When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.”

Leaders need somebody to lead, too.

Sometimes, we see people who lead us as strong, independent, and courageous.

That they can face life’s challenges because if they know all the right words to tell us, and all the right actions to advise us, surely, they don’t need us, right?

But has it ever occurred to us, to ask them the simple question, “how are you?”.

Whenever we help, we don’t ask people anything in return.

But deep within us, we help people the way we also want to be helped.

We love them the way we want to be loved.

Our verse today reminds us that people who inspire us, also need inspiration from us.

And the cycle goes on. We receive help today to be able to help tomorrow.

In helping one another, we encourage each other to keep the fire burning in our hearts and be steadfast in faith in Him.

Today’s Reflection Activity:
Take time to talk to people and genuinely ask them “How are you?”. You’ll be surprised what happens after it.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, thank you for being our strength in times when we’re weak. May we share this strength with people who need it and do it unconditionally and with love. Amen.
