Today’s Scripture Reading: Isaiah 43:2
“When you go through deep waters, I will go with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.”
There are times when we feel so down that we don’t even know the right words to say to the Lord. In these times, the words in the Bible bring comfort to our weary souls.
In reading it, allow the words to speak to us then in time, it will start speaking through us.
For today’s verse, God is speaking to the Israelites that He will be with them. In modern times, we are like the Israelites - lost, unworthy to be saved, and stubborn in our ways. Yet God’s grace embraces us no matter what we do if only we choose to go back to Him.
For today’s verse, let’s try to change “you” at the beginning to “I”, then the “you” at the end as “me”. We speak and pray from the point of view of the Israelites through His words.
“When I go through deep waters, You will go with me.
When I go through rivers of difficulty, I will not drown.
When I walk through the fire of oppression, I will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume me.”
Did you feel like you were talking to the Lord? I hope you did.
If not, know this.
He was, is, and will always be there for you. For us.
