Daily Devotion: Worship from the Heart

***September 30, 2024***

Thoughtful Starter:
What Bible verse or prayer have you memorized? Silently say it.

Today’s Scripture Reading: Psalm 78: 36-37
“But all they gave him was lip service; they lied to Him with their tongues.
Their hearts were not loyal to him.
They did not keep his covenant

Did you ever memorize a bible verse? Or a prayer?

In some occasions, these are helpful especially when we’re putting our claims and making promises (e.g. “I promise to follow you”, “I vow to honor your plan”)  to God.

Though there’s nothing wrong with this, let’s be careful when uttering these words for Him because there’s a borderline between a heartfelt and a memorized prayer. He doesn’t desire our words of admiration for Him.

It’s the message and the words that come from the heart that He sees and loves.

Let’s be reminded through today’s verse to make commitments with God through our hearts, not our mouths. He wants our deeds to express our service and honor to Him.

Thoughtful Reflection Activity:
Repeat that bible verse or prayer that you’ve memorized. This time, with a deeper feeling to give glory to Him.

Today’s Prayer:
Lord, may we honor you today with heartfelt deeds. May we not worship you taking it simply as a routine, but with our wholehearted intention to bring glory to your Name. Amen.
